We haven't gotten any of our materials other than the computer, either. They keep telling us "on or before the first day of school" for everything except the workbooks. Tomorrow is the first day--I'm not holding my breath. Our principal said it is because of their vendor, not the actual virtual academy.

We got some of our K12 stuff for two of the girls on Thursday, but haven't gotten anything else. Nothing for Midge. Even if we had it, I wasn't going to start full swing until after Labor Day. I don't know what is going on with K12 this year, but I'm not impressed. Anyway, just count every minute that he reads or watches the History Chanel or Animal Planet or draws or writes or does any physical activities (PE). You can find all kinds of ways for supplemental hours until you get the curriculum. 6 hours a day? Wow. We have to do 5. Though, to be honest, as the girls have gotten older we have had many days where it took them 6 hours to finish their lessons. Mostly I think that's because they hate math and drag their feet. Way to go Teegan on the placment testing!

We have not recieved any more items either. THis is the first year we've started with little to nothing. For us it isn't so much of an issue. Much of their History and Art is online as we have been working on that as well as handwritting. We'll be gone for a week here soon and I really wanted to be a week ahead. We aren't quite a whole week ahead, but close.

You'll find the hours are easy to fill. Make sure you know if it's supposed to be an average of six a day, 5 days a week or if it has to be 6 hours daily. Many times you can log hours for things some people wouldn't think of, even on weekends when he isn't "doing school." If he is helping you cook a meal you can count that as health (nutrition) or if he is reading a magazine that counts as LA supplemental hours. We have never been short on hours at the end of the year, not even close.

First, I can't believe you're blogging from the iphone! Second, way to go Teegan! Third, not a very impressive start for the virtual academy (that's what it's called, right?)!

Oy vey, this homeschooling thing sounds scary to me. Not because I don't think it's awesome, but because I would be too scared to try it!

We've started the school year with no math curriculum for either boy because of backorders, the text came in for Science for younger boy but no workbook because of backorder, the workbook came in but no text for World History for older boy because of back order. The backorders were supposed to be in two weeks ago but the date keeps moving. We're having to do some major improvising. Right now I'm just having to review the end of last year's math for them. It's so frustrating!!!

Way to Teegan! Homeschoolers are awesome!!!
