One more day

kids were SO done havine pictures taken!

{this picture is so funny – Addy’s giving me the stink-eye, my two boys in the middle have their eyes closed and Noah is mid-yawn. I have impeccable timing!!}

Thank goodness for this four day weekend. While we don’t really get to enjoy the benefits of a 4-day since we are both self-employed which means no days off, I am enjoying the slowing down of everyone else’s lives which has a direct effect on our work loads! Nice.

Today was New Clothes day. This is not fun. I hate this. It is no fun shopping for my kids who hate all clothes and would rather wear rags. They won’t come so at least I don’t have to hear them whine.

Dalton keeps growing, darn it, which means he is perpetually in need of pants that won’t look like floods. One small problem here. He isn’t growing so much in the waist as the length. Right now he needs a 28×31 or 28×32 in pants and that size? Does not exist! Awesome. Good thing Teegan compensates by not growing at all :)

I was so so tired after going to only two stores that I about passed out in the car on the short drive home.

The rest of the day was spent cleaning Noah and Teegan’s room. I used to do a big annual room cleaning for each kid about once a year but I don’t think I’ve done it nearly that often since my big boys have been big enough to really take over this duty. But this was out of control. Noah – my hoarder – his room was an absolute disaster. So I made them drag out every single thing from every shelf, under the bed, in drawers, in the closet, corners, etc and pile it all in the middle of the room. We threw away probably 75% of it all. At least my hoarder has no real attachment to most of his stuff. The things that are most meaningful to him are extremely small. Extremely. Like he has a thing for Christmas tree light fuses. He collects them for three years running. But toys? He’ll happily pitch most without  a second thought. We aren’t quite done with this monumental task yet but another half hour should do the trick. It will be SO NICE for my boys to have a spacious clutter-free room again.

Next stop: my room. I may try the same strategy :)

I’m so grateful that I have tomorrow to do all the things we had on our list of things to do today that we didn’t get to. Like grocery shopping! And laundry. And putting up Christmas lights outside. And ordering my camera.

Just seeing if you’re paying attention.

    28×31 are IMPOSSIBLE to find. (This is the size Dave has needed for most of our marriage, and it really is an enormous challenge. In the last few years he has needed a 30X31, which is only slight less difficult to find. Good luck! (And also…I cannot believe my husband is roughly the same size as Dalton! How did kids get to be this big???)

    Oh yeah, DEFINITELY paying attention to the last part – yippee!

    I should try your strategy with decluttering my place, out of control doesn’t even tap into the disaster here…
